Meet Crumbles
Father & daughter team Nick Cresswell & Felicity Humble produce a range of porcelain & fine bone china homeware including vases, mugs, teapots & more..
Hello …I’m Nick Cresswell one half of Crumbles Ceramics.
My love of ceramics was inspired by the well known potter Denis Tams and I studied A level ceramics under his tutelage at Newcastle.
I joined our family engineering firm Glebe Engineering after school which supplied all the big Stoke-on-Trent names such as Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, Spode, Portmeirion etc, which, along with getting married and starting a family, meant time for hobbies was limited. But, I never stopped turning over plates to see where they were made!
Several years ago my wife Jan, enrolled me on a pottery making class run by the esteemed sculptor Nick Marsh, and my passion for pots was reignited! Nick introduced me to slip casting and I have designed and had my own moulds made to produce porcelain vases, with the shape inspired by the iconic bottle kiln!
I live in Staffordshire Moorlands and have converted a stable at home into a studio to indulge my passion, and feel very fortunate to be developing this little venture with my daughter Felicity.
Hello… I’m Felicity the other half of Crumbles Ceramics. I’ve lived in Liverpool for the last 8 years, a city both myself and husband fell in love with, when we moved here to follow my career. We live in a lovely leafy suburb with our fur baby & actual baby Indie who arrived in June!!! Creativity has always been a passion of mine, but I found myself not flexing my creative muscle whilst climbing the corporate ladder. In a past life I studied Art & Design and then went onto a Fashion design degree at Huddersfield Uni, designing & making stuff was what I loved; but I just never found the time to get my hands dirty. So during a period of being furloughed in 2020 I started to think about the direction my career was going in.
Seeing what my dad was producing really interested me. He always loved pottery and ceramics which was a medium I hadn’t much experience in. So, while I was deciding what to do with my career, he was busy making beautiful things and giving them away to family and friends as gifts. The feedback was really positive, people loved what he was making.
Our entrepreneurial brains had a light bulb moment and we thought other people would love these as well, and before I knew it my sleeves were rolled up and I was decorating vases.
The rest as they say is history!!!
ABOUT US
We love the whole process of making gorgeous individual ceramics. Every piece is unique, as we hand paint each one individually. So when you purchase pottery from us you can be assured that you will receive something one of a kind.
There is a real thrill in waiting to see what comes out of the kiln. We find experimenting with new techniques/ colours super exciting and are constantly thinking about how to expand our range.
All our products are made with love in our home town of Stoke On Trent. Something that we are very proud of as Stoke On Trent is the home of Pottery. Nick still lives there and Felicity is based in Liverpool, both cities are full of creative talent and endless inspiration.
One of the things we both share a real passion for is making our products affordable for all budgets. The idea that our products are sat in homes all across the UK brings us so much pride and joy.
